Sara and Brad had the most beautiful Williamsburg wedding at the end of a wild and uncertain hurricane week and all of this Coronavirus craziness and the upheaval it’s caused in the event industry for so many brides and grooms has me reminiscing about their day and that weekend. As a company we actually had two weddings that were supposed to take place that weekend. One had to be cancelled because the venue was in a mandatory evacuation area and the other, Sara and Brad’s, we ventured forward with hoping and praying that the hurricane wouldn’t be everything the weathermen were anticipating and knowing that we would have to be willing to bend and flex and make some changes along the way. It ended up being an amazing day, slightly overcast and breezy,, but after a week spent preparing for Plan B and C and D, lining up back-up vendors and adjusting some of our original delivery times and plans, we couldn’t have asked for a better turn out. Enjoy their gorgeous pictures by one of my faves, Justin Hankins.

Sara and Brad had their ceremony at Sara’s grandparents home in Williamsburg, Virginia. Her grandad had told her that when they built the house he had imagined his granddaughters coming down the winding staircase on their wedding day and, just as he imagined, he was able to see Sara and her sister come down those stairs on their wedding days. The sweetness of it just melts my heart.

Holy cow these black and white portraits of Sara and Brad are some of my all-time favorites. How gorgeous are these two?!

I cannot with this little guy in his tiny tuxedo.

Since Sara and Brad had chosen to get married in Sara’s grandparent’s home, Sara wanted to make sure that they incorporated elements from her grandparent’s house in the ceremony space so it actually felt like their home and wasn't stripped of their personality or things. They used oriental rugs from around the home to line the center aisle and it was one of my favorite elements of the day. We also brought in some assorted lanterns from Mad Hatter Vintage Rentals to create some vignettes in their foyer.

These cakes were originally supposed to be a three tiered cake but, when we thought the hurricane might be hitting on the wedding day, we decided to make some adjustments to accommodate the cake being delivered a few days early. Cindy from Cindy’s Cakery suggested that we plan to do a deconstructed version of the original design, with each tier on a white cake stand. LOVED the way it turned out. The stunning dusty blue patterned linens were sourced from Waterford Event Rentals and were the perfect fit for our vision!

This is my favorite card box of all time. Season’s of Williamsburg had the idea to put florals in it and it was perfect.

What a beautiful wedding day it turned out to be for this awesome couple! They handled the uncertainty like champs and we were thrilled to be able to serve them on their special day!
