In honor of their one year anniversary coming up in a few days I wanted to "Throwback Thursday" blog about Caryn and Matt's bright vintage wedding at the Vintager Inn in New Kent, Virginia. Caryn and Matt planned their wedding within the span of 5 months! That meant that the process was more of a sprint then a stroll which was exactly why she wanted and needed a planner! We worked out a custom partial planning package which meant that I was able to save her time by pointing her to resources and venues so she didn't waste any time spinning her wheels in research. She also had already made a few design choices by the time she brought me into the pictures but knew that she was having a hard time taking some of her ideas and translating them into a cohesive vision, so her package included design services as well.

I'd love to share a little bit about how a planner can help you take your ideas and preferences and streamline them into a complete and cohesive design plan. Caryn had already picked out her invitations when we started working together (since she was on such a tight timeline). She had picked out a very classic and formal design. She had also already decided that she wanted a Tiffany blue and coral as her wedding colors and she knew that she wanted calla lilies incorporated into her wedding flowers. She knew that overall she wanted her wedding to have a vintage feel (lace, ornate gold frames, pearls, etc.). In a world of blush and nude weddings Caryn definitely knew that she wanted something different! I wrestled for a few days over the fact that the bright Tiffany blue and coral felt more like a beachy color palette than a vintage one and definitely had to spend some time really thinking about how we could tie that in. Then I thought about vintage tea cups...

Bingo! That became our inspiration piece for Caryn and Matt's elegant, bright, vintage wedding. We also made the vision cohesive by using flowers that were in her bright colors but were vintage in styles (like roses, callas and lilies). We muted the Tiffany blue linens by placing a lace topper on them and we used all dark brown ink on anything we printed instead of true black because it has a more vintage feel to it. And of course, we had to incorporate our inspiration piece, tea cups, in some of the centerpieces and vintage china for the dishes. You'll see below how their beautiful wedding day came together. This wedding may be one of my favorites for several other reasons besides the fun design process. Caryn was a hoot (seriously, love this girl), Matt is a fellow JMU alum (go Dukes!) and the officiant at this wedding was extra handsome (oh hey babe!). And Matt and Caryn are just so photogenic in these beautiful pictures by Audrey Rose Photography that I had a hard time choosing favorites! Enjoy!
